Voltaire in Cancer
The Sharpened Pen in Cancer

Voltaire is the small, sharp voice that makes powerful people furious. Where this asteroid sits is where you fight with wit instead of force — you are outmatched physically and you win anyway, in print, in public, in one sentence people repeat for years. You take up unpopular causes and cannot leave an injustice alone. The trap is that the same tongue that fights tyranny also wounds allies, and exile, professional or personal, keeps finding you.

In water, the causes are personal, and the satire hides how much it costs you.

In cardinal mode, you open the fight nobody else will start.

In Cancer this point remembers. Voltaire attaches wit against power, and the exile it earns to people, houses, smells, and specific years, and nothing in that archive ever gets marked as resolved. You scan every room for whether you are safe and whether you are wanted, in that order, before you have consciously decided anything. Old hurts here do not fade — they quietly steer choices you are certain were logical.

You are outmatched physically and you win anyway. One sentence, well aimed, does more damage than a campaign, and people repeat it for years. You cannot leave an injustice alone, and you will take up the unpopular side in public when everyone else goes quiet.

Filtered through Cancer, that gift shows up as nurturing, intuitive, protective — and it is most obvious to the people who watch you handle wit against power, and the exile it earns when you think nobody is measuring.

The same tongue that fights tyranny shreds your allies. You mistake being right for being effective, enjoy the fight more than the outcome, and keep finding yourself exiled — from a job, a scene, a family — with a very good explanation each time.

Cancer adds its own version of the cost: moodiness and a tendency to withdraw into their shell when hurt. In this part of your chart that is not a personality quirk — it is the specific way Voltaire goes wrong for you, and it will keep repeating until you name it as yours instead of theirs.

Voltaire fires when someone powerful says something stupid in public and you already have the reply.

The work is aiming it. Keep the edge for the people who can defend themselves, and choose the fights that actually change something.
